IS IT THE WIND?

Interdisciplinary art, Installation by Katharina Raehmi, Film by Gertrud Pinkus, shown in the China Academy of Art Shanbei, Hangzhou, China and IWE Museum, Kunming, China

Is it the wind...?

They touch the ground only with a small point of their bulbous bodies, which becomes narrower upwards and lastly reveals a tiny navel to the universe.

Is it the connection of mind and matter?

They stand in groups, like sleeping doves. Yet only a small push is enough and they turn outwards from their own center, rolling across the room; jumping, dancing, becoming unbalanced and catching themselves again.

Is it the energy of the movement?

They grumble, whisper and bang, loudly clashing. They collide here and there, touching each other with tender rattling and instigating a dialogue with the viola.

Is it the game of sound?

They chase each other impetuously, lie defiantly on their sides, get up, wobble on the spot and finally come to rest - they suddenly spin on their own axis, disappear, emerge in an unexpected place again and swish across the surface from there.

Is it the wind...?
